Lund International Choral Academy
Lund International Choral Academy is proudly presented by Lund University including Southern Choral Centre, Odeum and Malmö Academy of Music together with Musik i Syd for the second time! The academy welcomes conductors from all over the world to participate in master classes, focusing on repertoire and work with chorus and orchestra under the supervision of the well-known Estonian conductor Tõnu Kaljuste.

Lund International Choral Academy is organised parallell to Lund International Choral Festival. Assisting us this year will be Camerata Nordica, Palaestra Vocal Ensemble which is a high-level amateur choir; special guest chorus Eric Ericsson Chamber Choir, a professional choir from Stockholm.
The master class is arranged as an independent academic course of 8 ECTS points and is free of charge.
Master class instructors are Tõnu Kaljuste, conductor, founder of Tallin Chamber Orchestra and former conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir, based in Tallinn; and Patrik Andersson, assistant, Director Musices at Lund University and lecturer in orchestral conducting at Malmö Academy of Music.
Camerata Nordica, chamber orchestra based in Kalmar, Palaestra Vocal Ensemble, amateur choir based in Lund and special guest chorus Eric Ericsson Chamber Choir, a professional choir from Stockholm.

Saturday October 9 – Saturday October 16, 2010.
The instructors of the master classes are the examiners of the Lund International Choral Academy. Examination is on a continuous basis. All participants will receive a certificate for taking part in the class. The grades Failed or Passed will be given.
Academic qualifications and merits
Prerequisites: The participant should be qualified for studies at an academy of music or a college of music or have experiences/degree from higher academic music studies. A good knowledge in English is required. Participants who pass the Lund International Choral Academy may be able to include the course in their academic degree.
Undergraduate. The course is valid for 8 ECTS credits.
Applications (consisting of three parts) for participating in the Lund International Choral Academy should be submitted to the office of the Southern Choral Centre (Körcentrum Syd). The address can be found further down. The application consists of the following parts:
• Application form
• DVD recording. A DVD recording of a rehearsal or concert with chorus or orchestra or combined ensembles. Duration max 10 min. Max 2 years old. The recording should depict the applicant conductor from the front.
• Curriculum vitae. A list of completed courses and practical experience as well as works performed (over the last 2 years).
Applications will not be considered until all required material has been submitted. The Application Jury of Lund International Choral Academy will decide on active participation upon receipt of the full applications.

Palaestra et Odeum
Number of participants
The Lund International Choral Academy will accept 6-8 active students. Those who are not admitted as active students will get the opportunity to take part as observing participants in the master class.
It is possible to take part as an observing (passive) participant in the Lund International Choral Academy.
The participants in the Lund International Choral Academy are responsible for their own scores required for the course.
Accommodation and meals
The participants are responsible for their own accommodation and meals during the course. Some meals may be organised by the Academy.
